Assessment Services

Dr. Rami Nijjar, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in adult ADHD and autism assessment, complex diagnostic clarification, and the intersection of neurodivergence, attachment and trauma.

Many adults seek assessment after years of feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood or inadequately helped by earlier diagnoses. ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, attachment difficulties and personality patterns can overlap in ways that require careful clinical reasoning; not simply a questionnaire or a single test score.

Dr. Nijjar provides neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed assessments that integrate standardized measures, diagnostic interviews, developmental history and behavioural observation. The result is a clear, compassionate formulation and practical recommendations designed to be useful in treatment, work, education and everyday life.

ADHD ASSESSMENT FOR ADULTS

An adult ADHD assessment explores attention, organization, impulsivity, emotional regulation and executive functioning within the context of your developmental history and current life. Because ADHD can overlap with anxiety, trauma, depression, autism and other concerns, the assessment considers possible alternative or co-occurring explanations. You will receive a clear formulation and recommendations tailored to your individual needs.

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER ASSESSMENT FOR ADULTS

An adult autism assessment explores social communication, sensory experiences, routines, focused interests, masking and developmental history. Particular attention is given to presentations that may have been missed earlier in life, including those of women and high-masking adults. The assessment considers overlapping experiences such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma and attachment difficulties and provides individualized recommendations based on the findings.

COMPREHENSIVE MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT

A comprehensive psychological assessment may be helpful when your experiences cannot be adequately explained by one diagnostic question. It examines factors such as mood, anxiety, trauma, personality, attention, coping, attachment and interpersonal functioning to clarify how they interact. The goal is to provide an integrated understanding of your difficulties, strengths and treatment needs—not simply a list of diagnoses.

Psychovocational Assessment

A psychovocational assessment examines how your psychological functioning, cognitive abilities, interests, strengths and work history relate to your capacity for employment and future vocational options. It may be helpful following an injury, illness, extended absence from work or significant career disruption.

The assessment can clarify factors that may be affecting work functioning, identify suitable vocational directions and determine supports or accommodations that could facilitate a sustainable return to work. Depending on the referral question, recommendations may address treatment, workplace accommodations, gradual return-to-work planning, retraining or alternative career paths.

The resulting report integrates assessment findings with the practical demands of work and is written to provide clear, actionable guidance for the individual and, where appropriate, treating professionals, employers, insurers or vocational rehabilitation providers.

COUPLES THERAPEUTIC ASSESSMENT

A couples therapeutic assessment helps partners understand the patterns shaping their relationship. It considers each partner’s needs and personality, attachment patterns, communication, conflict, stress and sexual or emotional connection. You will receive a formulation of the couple’s central relational patterns, recommendations for therapeutic work and resources that can support change both inside and outside therapy.
