About Dr. Rami Nijjar

Dr. Nijjar completed her PhD in Montreal, QC at Concordia University and clinical training within the McGill University Health Centre.  Her doctoral work followed relationship dynamics and development of children of parent’s with bipolar disorder.  Her work contributed to the creation of a treatment program aimed at interrupting the transmission of risk across generations and teaching families how to create healthy homes.

In her predoctoral internship, Dr. Nijjar specialized in Sex and Couples therapy and went on to work under world-renowned sex researcher, Dr. Lori Brotto at the University of British Columbia.  At UBC she led groups for women struggling with low desire, women with vulvodynia, and couples post-prostate cancer treatment.  Alongside her work at UBC, Dr. Nijjar trained with Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff, the co-creators of the highly effective, evidence-based Mindful Self Compassion program. Inspired by the treatment effectiveness that she had been privy too, Dr. Nijjar started , Resilience Psychotherapy, a training clinic that offers effective services to a broad population.  Since then she has collaborated with national and international colleagues to refine her assessment measures and offer effective treatment plans for couples, individuals and groups. 

Most recently, she has adapted her work to meet the needs of those facing systemic oppression and those who are neurodivergent. She and her clients have been excited at the positive results that they are receiving. Today, Dr. Nijjar lends her expertise to help her clients better understand their needs and develop healthier more connected lives. She also works with universities, hospitals, and corporations to help them enhance employee well-being, encourage innovation and collaboration, and embody diversity, equity, and inclusion mandates. She also provides consultation services to other professionals in her industry.
